ABOUT DR. LEONARD
Dr. Leonard graduated from the University of Illinois,
College of Dentistry in 1959 with BS and DDS degrees. After a two year program in the US
Army Dental Corp, he started teaching at his alma mater in 1962 and opened his practice in
1964. He taught at the Uof I for almost 28 years, teaching both undergraduate and graduate
programs. He directed several courses and lectured extensively during that time, retiring
from teaching in 1989, at the rank of associate professor. He has also guest
lectured at the U of I since retiring.
Dr. Leonard belongs to numerous dental societies: Chicago Dental Society, Illinois Dental
Society, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Prosthodontic
Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon (an honorary
dental society). He has appeared on television, lectured, published articles, and has
attended over 800 hours of continuing education courses. He is married and has 2children
and 6 grandchildren.
ABOUT THE OFFICE
While teaching, Dr. Leonard developed his practice, which has been at the same location since 1964. His practice emphasizes preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry, the area he taught at the university. Excellence in quality and patient comfort have always been his goals. The office has three treatment rooms which provide uninterrupted, individual attention to each patient. The office uses universal precautions according to OSHA requirements: gloves, mask, glasses and steam sterilization. Dr. Leonard's equipment is always up to date and includes intra-oral video camera to show before and after pictures of a patient's dental work. His practice encompasses all phases of dentistry including crowns, bridges, implants, removable partial and full dentures, tooth colored fillings, porcelain veneers, bleaching, snoring and weight reduction appliances.
